Team management and race-day timing for distance relays, built by a captain who needed it.
Handoff is team management and race-day timing for distance relays. It's built for the people who volunteer to captain a team and then discover what that actually means.
I'm Justin. My day job is in financial software; running is what I do with the rest of my time. I've finished dozens of relays and captained a good number of them, so I know the mix of excitement and dread that comes with saying “sure, I'll organize it.” I hope this site makes that yes a little easier.
Every relay I've captained started the same way: a spreadsheet nobody could read on a phone, a group chat that scrolled past anything important, and a van full of people asking “when do I run again?”
The information was always there. It was just spread across three apps and one tired person's head. Somewhere around the third exchange at two in the morning, I'd be doing pace math on a receipt while the next runner hunted for a headlamp.
Handoff is the tool I wished I'd had. The roster, the leg order, who's bringing what and when your runner should arrive, in one place the whole team can see. Planning is free. On race day, the app keeps everyone on the same clock.
Handoff is independent and isn't affiliated with any race organization. The race listings here are gathered from organizers' public schedules.
